Cosponsor the Armenian Genocide Resolution
I am writing, in the wake of the brutal assassination in Turkey of Hrant Dink, to urge you to work for the early adoption of the Armenian Genocide Resolution.
As you know, on January 19th, Mr. Dink, a leading Istanbul-based Armenian journalist, was murdered in cold-blood outside the offices of his “Agos” newspaper, amid a growing tide of official Turkish government prosecutions and pressure to silence his writings on the Armenian Genocide of 1915 to 1923.
This terrible act of brutality, which has been condemned by Amnesty International, the Committee to Protect Journalists and other human rights groups, underscores the pressing need for the United States to - at long last - break with Turkey's shameful campaign to deny this crime against all humanity.
Please join with Congressmen Adam Schiff, George Radanovich, Frank Pallone, and Joe Knollenberg - and the more than 110 Representatives who have already agreed to cosponsor this the soon to be introduced Armenian Genocide Resolution - in working toward its early adoption. This legislation will be the exactly the same as H.Res.316 in the last Congress. This measure, as you may recall, was cosponsored by 160 Representatives and was overwhelmingly approved by the House International Relations Committee (40 to 7).
To offer your help in securing the adoption of the Armenian Genocide Resolution, please ask your staff to contact Tim Bergreen in Rep. Schiff's office or Chris Herndon in Rep. Radanovich's office. To learn more, please contact the Armenian National Committee of America at (202) 775-1918 or
anca@anca.org.
Thank you for your consideration of this morally compelling initiative to finally end the denial of the Armenian Genocide - and to help end forever the cycle of genocide.
