Sexual orientation and gender affects navigation skills, with straight men best at map reading and heterosexual women worst, according to a new study.

Cinsiyet tercihlerimiz yol bulma ve gosterme kabiliyetlerimizi etkiliyor. Erkekler (gay olmayan) en iyi iken kadinlar (gay olmayan) en kotu performans gosterdi.

Researchers at the University of Warwick considered how we perform mental tasks in light of sexual preferences, with straight men performing better at map reading than gay men who in turn perform better than lesbians, who in turn do better than straight women.

Warwick Universitesinde beyin ile cozulen problemlerde nasil oldugumuzu arastirdilar.Sirayla en iyi erkekler, sonra gay erkekler, sonra gay kadinlar, ve en son kadinlar.

But old age withers all men’s minds alike, and at a faster rate than women’s, according to Prof Elizabeth Maylor of the University of Warwick, who worked with Dr Stian Reimers of University College London on an online survey with the BBC, published in the Archives of Sexual Behaviour.

Yaslanincada hala erkeklerin beyini kadinlarinkinden daha hizli.

“This is a novel finding,” she said.

“Only gender has an effect on rate of ageing, not sexual orientation.”

Cinsiyet yaslanmayi etkilesede, cinsel tercihlerimizi etkilemiyor.

Data was taken from over 198,000 people aged 20-65 years (109,612 men and 88,509 women).

198,000 kisi 20 ile 60 yas arasi.

As expected they found men outperformed women on tests such as mentally rotating objects, and matching angles, while women outperformed men in verbal dexterity tests, and remembering the locations of objects. So while men may be better at map reading, women are better at finding the car keys.

Erkekler beyin ile objeleri dondurme ve ayni acilari yakalamak da iyiyken kadinlar kelime oyunlari olan testlerde ve objelerin yerlerini hatirlamada erkeklerden iyiydi.
Erkekler harita okumada iyiyken kadinlar arabanin anahtarini bulmakte iyi.

Prof Maylor stressed there is a big overlap when the overall spread of performance of men and women is compared.

"In all the tasks, older people did worse than younger people, whether male or female. In fact, for some of the tasks, people in their 30s were significantly worse than people in their 20s.

Butun tasklarda yasli kisiler genclerden cok daha kotuydu. 30 yasindakilar bile 20 yasindakilerden baya kotuydu.
"This is one of the first times that age-related decline has been shown in adults under 40," she said.

"Because of the size of the study, we found reliable effects with ageing.

"Men showed a greater decline with age than women did, irrespective of whether a task favoured men or women."

Erkekler yaslandikca kadinlardan daha hizli bu ozelliklerini kayb ediyorlar.

Gay men showed a more female-typical pattern of performance than straight men did, and lesbians showed a more male-typical pattern of performance than straight women did. But gay men’s cognitive performance declined with age at the same rate as straight men’s, and lesbians’ cognitive performance declined at the same rate as straight women’s.

Gay erkeklerin neticeleri daha cok kadin ozelliklerine yakindi.
Lezbiyenlerde daha cok erkek perfonmansina daha yakindi.
